Self-employment and entrepreneurship

We have worked with TERN to help you support refugees who want to start their own business

Many refugees arriving to the UK have previous experience of some form of entrepreneurship in their life before they came to the UK. The person you support may feel that starting their own business in the UK will be the best way for them to have their own source of income. However, navigating the rules and regulations in the UK to start a business may be a challenge for anyone.

We partnered with The Entrepreneurial Refugee Network (TERN) – the leading provider of business support for refugee entrepreneurs in the UK to develop a resource to help Community Sponsorship Groups feel more confident in supporting refugee entrepreneurs to take their first steps towards running their own business.

This resource is designed to help you assess the readiness of the person you support to run a business in the UK. It offers some practical steps you can take to offer initial help on their journey towards their ambitions. It also suggests where to look for additional support that may be useful along the way.
